Tatsunoko vs Capcom Event at Nintendo World

Categories: Events, News

On the Saturday the 23rd,  Capcom held a Tatsunoko vs Capcom event in the Nintendo World  Center. There was a lot of festivity and fortunately me and several Gamesandme members (Chris and Diglio) were live on the scene to report on this.

I arrived at Nintendo World at around 11:30 and there was already a line up the stairs. The event was taking place on the second floor where there were many play stations for people to test the game out. There were three main events at the show. The first was a combo contest of sorts in which the person with the highest combo walks away with a copy of the game (The highest combo was 268!!!).

The second event was something called “Beat a Pro”. This was basically an event in which participants  got to go against someone with lots of experience in Tatsu and if they won they also got a copy of the game. Chris and I each took a shot at the pro and well lost. But that got me thinking what exactly constitutes one to be a pro at this game. For example the most of the participants were playing the game for the first time (myself included) and had no idea how to even play. Sure there were people who had the import but still what made this guys the “elite of the elite”. Chris told me that the “pro” he fought played the single player constantly. Now this guy had a suit on with a  Tatsunoko tie on. Guess he was on the job. Fortunately I had a more “human”  pro to fight who took advantage of me not knowing how to switch characters but that is another story.

After all that, me and Chris joined up with Diglio for the main event which was an autograph signing with the producer Ryota Niisuma. Boy oh boy let me tell you, this was one long wait of a line. I think we were on that line for about 2 hours . Anyway Niisuma -san was signing posters and anything people wanted signed. The man looked drained. They even had a lady who dried the ink of the signed poster. Eventually we finally reached him for our autograph signing. Chris got his import copy of the game, Tatsu towel and bunch of other things signed. However when it was my turn I had something that Just made Niisuma-san go oooooooooooo. I brought with me Street fighter 2 turbo edition. Anyway turned out they didn’t have any copies of Tatsunoko vs Capcom to give out to the winners of the event (they were given vouchers to get the game when it came out). Anyway it turned out to be good day.

A very good day indeed. Tatsunoko vs Capcom hits stores on the 26th. Hope to see some of you guys online as I seem to have an early start to practice a few moves.
